This article details the controlled demolition of one of the two carriageways of the Pietrastretta bridge in the “Sicignano – Potenza” highway in Italy. This bridge was built in the 1970s with reinforced concrete. Single slim pylons support on transverse
cantilevers, two carriageways on three beam spans. A total of 21 spans cover a length of 1 km (0.62 mile).
